This blog has to start somewhere, so we can get on our trip! Our journey to China started in Feb 2007. I don’t have time right now for all the details, but we were matched with Xu Ming Zhe in March 2011. His birth date is Jan1, 2010, so when we meet him for the first time on Aug 15, 2011, he will be 19.5 months old. We have chosen to give him a name from us as well, …Elijah Mingzhe…the Lord is my God…..Xu is the surname for all kiddos in the orphanage that he was first taken to. It is short for Xuchang which is the city where his orphanage is. We will probably call him Eli Ming..but who knows, once we meet him! His nickname is Pipi which is short for Pipi Lu, a well-known cartoon character in China. The character is described as a naughty boy that always tells the truth! In Eli Ming’s description, it said when the nanny was folding a stack of clothes, she said no Pipi, and he gave her a big smile and pulled some of the folded clothes to the floor anyway…a naughty boy indeed! What child hasn’t done that? He was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate and has had a lip repair surgery in China. He will have his palate repaired fairly soon after we get home….I really need to get packing as we leave the house to begin the journey of a lifetime in a little over 12 hours!
