A Visit to Eli’s First Orphanage and Finding Place

We had an opportunity to visit Eli’s finding place as well as the Social Welfare Institute that he was first taken to after he was found. The orphanage director and other workers were very welcoming…it was in a peaceful setting, but words have not surfaced beyond that…the director and two other top officials invited us to lunch afterwards…I guess that is very rare…they were very kind and over the top hospitable…the director has visited CCAI in Denver once. We told him when he makes it again that we will treat him!

We found out the timeline that Eli was there and how long he was at the Lily Orphan Care Center in Luohe. When we got Eli, they handed us a bag with about 5 diapers, a bottle, a small bag of formula, a bag of wafer treats, and his disposable camera we had sent him in his care package ( the camera is on 0 exposures so I am thinking we will have some pics to develop when we get back), and the most valued of all is a photo album with 43 pictures of Eli while he was in Luohe.

It is so amazing to watch Eli imitate everything he sees! He is truly changing quickly before our eyes! We are walking him up and down the stairs to strengthen his quad muscles,,,and he takes it as a challenge. He is a good little sleeper and eats, eats eats! He is very resourceful…he entertains himself with whatever he finds! He was sooo happy to play with the washcloth in the bath…he also took a bite of soap…didn’t even make a face! He is still very entertained with the stacking cups that he has been playing with since we got him! He was very excited to play with an orange balloon tonight!

I could go on and on, but again, I am exhausted,,,not at all from Eli, just the schedule they keep us on to get everything done! In 2 days we will be flying to another city and getting the last business done. We are one week from departure for the US,,and two thirds of our hotel stays almost done….

Today’s experience was priceless….

Goodnight once again
