Hi Everyone!
After 24 hours of traveling, Abby and I made it to our
destination! We started out in Denver
and flew to Los Angeles. We had plenty
of time to find our next gate and instead of taking the shuttle bus from one
terminal to the next, we walked outside!
It was a beautiful day in LA!
Abby was amazed at the green grass and palm trees! Then we got on the grueling 12 hr 40 min
flight to Beijing. I seriously don’t
know how people do these flights anymore than a few times in a lifetime….When
we landed in Beijing, we had to hit the ground running…by the time we got to
the gate, they were boarding already!
We didn’t even have time to use the restroom! Next was the 2.5 hour flight to Chengdu. It was way more relaxing. We arrived at about 10pm Chengdu time, found
our guide, and got our luggage.
Everything made it here safely!
We are staying at The Somerset Riverview Chengdu. It is like a small apartment complete with a
small kitchen and washer and dryer!
Our first day here consisted of mostly orienting
ourselves. It was a holiday in China,
so we did not see our guide. We ate
breakfast, checked out the pool and recreation room, and met the one other
family that is here through the same agency.
They are a couple from Texas and they are adopting a 3.5 year old little
girl. Thank goodness we have one other
family here with us! We exchanged some
money, walked along the river, went to the coffee shop next door and had waffles,
came back to the room at around 4pm and fell asleep until 10pm and got up to do
this update on our blog before we go get Lucy Chenguo tomorrow morning!
